Mendel 190
Celebrations of 190th Anniversary of Mendel´s birth
Under the auspices of doc. PhDr. Mikuláš Bek, Ph.D., rector of Masaryk University and Ing. ThDr. Lukáš Evžen Martinec, OSA, the Abbot of Old Brno
The activity Mendel 190 was created to commemorate and celebrate the 190th anniversary of birth of G. J. Mendel - the father of genetics. In 1865 this Augustinian had formulated the basic principles of heredity, which are still valid. Thanks to the tireless work of Mendel, we can consider Czech Republic as the birthplace of genetics - science affecting all areas of life sciences. Thanks to understanding of all persons and institutions involved, an authentic and diverse complex of activities, that are proud of G. J. Mendel, was created.
